University Bank is the first bank in Minnesota
to become a Community Development Financial Institution
(CDFI). Across the country, there are fewer than 50
of these specialized, insured financial institutions
whose objective is to serve economically disadvantaged
markets. That objective connects with University Bank's
own mission to be the leader in improving the Minneapolis/Saint
Paul urban community.
"Banking with a CDFI organization allows you to
become a direct supporter of important development projects
for our communities in need," says University Bank
President David Reiling. "By leveraging the deposits
you, as customers, make available and through financial
support from the CDFI Fund, University Bank can expand
the amount of resources available to our community."
The CDFI Fund was created by the U.S. Treasury to expand
the capacity of such institutions to provide capital,
credit and financial services in under-served markets.
University Bank continues to be the recipient of such
financial awards allowing us to pass more capital
along to our distressed communities in the form of rehabilitation
and development loans. To maintain its status as a CDFI,
University Bank pledges to:
- support a primary mission of community development,
- serve a distressed target market or under-served
population,
- provide financing and development services to that
population.
If you are not a University Bank customer, make a deposit
today and support community development in the Twin
Cities.
