The house at 930 Marion Street had seen better days
so had its Saint Paul neighborhood. Less than
two blocks from Saint Bernard's Catholic High School,
the notorious property had been the subject of 911 calls
by fearful neighbors.
Police discovered that the tenant had been producing
crystal methamphetamine and was training fighting pit
bulls. In fact, when the house was searched, syringes
used to inject the dogs with steroids were found.
The tenant is now gone but, for the close-knit community,
the real work was just beginning. The neighborhood needed
help to clean up the eyesore 930 Marion Street had become
that's when University Bank stepped in.
We have invited local faith organizations like the
Jewish Community Action (JCA) group and area synagogues
to tackle community development projects with us. These
organizations invest in University Bank to put their
values into action. Their money doesn't just sit in
our vault, it has a "double bottom line"
earning interest while financing the repair of distressed
properties.
Thanks to all of our partners, the property at 930
Marion Street is now completely rehabilitated and for
sale as a single family home. If you would like to support
projects like this, please make a deposit with University
Bank today. To begin, visit our page describing the Urban
Revitalization Fund.
